THE LOCKER ROOM LTD., through its distribution rights, engages in the marketing and sales of footwear, apparel, equipment, and accessory products. It distributes athletic, casual, and leisure footwear for men, women, and children. The footwear products include running, cross-training, basketball, soccer, and sport-inspired urban shoes designed for tennis, golf, football, walking, hiking, outdoor activities, cycling, volleyball, netball and other athletic and recreational uses. Products are sold to retail accounts, through its owned retail stores, and through a mix of independent sub-distributors and licensees.
Locker Room Sports was co-founded by David Shirley and Stephen Shirley in 1998 and is headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica. The company was strengthened by the addition Mr. Howard Chin in January of 2005 as an owner and Director. The company focuses on three main business divisions, Retail, Team/wholesale and Special Projects/Investments.
Retail
This is a new area for the group, as we opened our first retail store in June, 2008. We needed to raise the profile of the organization and so the process of establishing a retail location was started. We are currently located a Shop #7 Southdale Plaza, Kingston 10. The response has been very positive ad we continue to develop our product line and customer base.
Team/Wholesale
The team business is the base of the companies operation. We have been selling team wear to some of the top sporting bodies in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Specifically, we supply teams with uniforms (Jersey, shorts and socks), footwear (football boots, athletic shoes) and accessories (Balls, bags, medical support). Locker Room Sports has supplied and sponsored teams in the National Premier League, The ISSA Manning and DaCosta Cup Competition, The JISA Preparatory Schools Competition, The Business House Football Competitions and several other leagues and competitions. We also sell and market to the students of The University of the West Indies and other sporting universities in the Caribbean.
Locker Room Sports is also the equipment supplier of the Cayman National Team and has an active sales and marking representative living on the Island. We also have the distribution rights for Kelme sports and fashion wear in the Caribbean.
Wholesale operations have proven to be a boost for the company as it has helped to build awareness of our distributed product lines and has assisted in faster product turnover. Current wholesale customers include Sports and Games, Western Sports (Mandeville), Emkay Sports, World of Sports (Negril and Westmoreland), Reflex Sportswear (St. Thomas) and other smaller operations.
Special Projects/Investments
The newest addition to the company’s portfolio is the sports promotional items and unique client request. This includes analyzing the client’s needs for particular items, sourcing the items and delivering the items. The logistics involved with these types of transactions usually entail international expertise and timely execution. This has been a very rewarding venture as we have delivered products from all over the world to our clients in record time; it has proven to be beneficial emotionally and financially.
The company also invests in sports marketing of athletes and other sports and real estate opportunities.
